What geeky gifts are under your tree? I didn’t ask for much in the way of new technology this year. I don’t want an iPhone, I’m fine with our Playstation 2, and I already have an iPod. I would like a docking station for my iPod, but I didn’t put it on my list for Santa. Hmm…come to think of it, I didn’t ask for anything electric for Christmas this year. Do I need to turn in my membership to the girl geek club? There just comes a point where you’re content with the toys you already have…
I would like to...

While on a road trip with my kids a few years ago, we happened upon a restaurant that had audio books available for rent. Simply pick up the audio book of your choice at one location, and drop it off at another location. We tried it, and it certainly did keep the kids quiet for a few hours…this was in the days before DVD’s in cars, of course! My only issue was that the store we picked up the audio book from had a limited selection – perhaps 100 or so titles to choose from. By comparison, here’s a site with audio books that features...
Tim posted the results (so far) on his poll he started on our boards, asking experienced bloggers if they’d submit a blog with pagerank to PayPerPost. I have to say, I’m surprised that the no votes are outweighing the yes votes so far. Pagerank on it’s own isn’t good for much, but it has real value for advertising – why save it if you can’t use it for anything?

Ask 100 bloggers who they use for web hosting, and you’ll get 100 different answers. I myself use two different companies, and have used a total of 4 or 5 web hosting services in the 4 or 5 years I’ve been blogging. If you need to choose a web host, the searchable directory over at
http://www.webhostingchoice.com will prove to be helpful. You can pick up a few tips and things to know in the learning area (a must for blogging and website newbies!) or move right to the features of each host. The advanced search page allows you to pick the features...

Alltel Cellular is testing out a new feature that I wish At&T had! Alltel users will now be able to have their voicemail messages turned into text messages, using voice recognition software. Instead of calling your voicemail, entering a password, pressing 1 for new messages, pressing 7 to delete messages…you can just read a text message. I love it!
I can see how this will have issues though – if you don’t speak clearly, or have an accent, your voice mail to text may not come out as intended. “Meeting at 5″ turns into...

My company recently decided to give our salespeople another CRM software to use, and one of the names mentioned was that of AIMpromote. As the person who ends being the first level support person for whatever software we end up using, I like to keep tabs on the options and upgrades available for each. AIMpromote has recently made some big changes to their CRM offering:
Traverse City, MI October 19th 2007 — AIMpromote, provider of lead management and customer relationship management software, has launched a significant upgrade to their CRM offering....

Do you ever Google yourself?
If so, you’re in good company. 47% of adult American internet users have Googled themselves at one time or another. I’ve googled friends, family, and other people as well. It’s absolutely amazing what you can find out about people online. I can find out what you paid for your house, if you’ve been arrested, or see a copy of your wedding license. Thanks to Google, I know that my high school prom date was arrested 3 times last year, and I’ve seen a co-workers vacation pictures on Flickr. I’ve...

I found a blog today, written by a money making blogger after my own heart. The $10,000 Blog Experiment site was launched by Brian Longest in September of this year, with a goal of making $10,000 a month by September of 2008, AND letting others know how to do it. Brian is not only looking into every aspect of blog monetization out there, but he’s letting readers know what works, and what doesn’t via his blog. Everything is completely transparent – from the income he’s made each month ($2.36 in September, $6.60 in October, and $48.71...

Crappy cubicle, be damned! The construction in our office was completed this week, and when it was all said and done, there were plenty of good spots left over. I gleefully gave up my spot next to the break room and moved to a far corner of the office. Not only is it much quieter, but now my home away from home has high walls, almost as tall as I am.
Note to all the people who work in my office: When you take your cell phone into the break room for a personal conversation, we can still hear you. Please don’t argue with your wife, or bitch to your...
I love a good game of Backgammon. I learned how to play the game using an ancient set of my parents, and I still play it online with friends, when time allows for it. It’s a great game that requires little skill, but lots of though and strategy.
BackgammonMasters has taken my favorite game to a whole new level. Players who love the game of backgammon like I do, but want to play for cash discovered this site, offering tournaments and challenging play months ago. Now, players can multiple currency transactions at BackgammonMasters via the secure online...
