grand theft auto IV
icon1 Posted by admin in Game Geeks on 04 29th, 2008 | 2 Comments
Grand Theft Auto IV arrives in stores this week, adding a 4th storyline to the existing brand, which includes Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas. When we got a Playstation 2 years ago, my husband gave me the GTA 3-pack for Christmas, and I spent 2 months straight playing in San Andreas. (I finally gave up when I couldn’t get past the stupid motorcycle chase.) In Grand Theft Auto IV, you play as Niko Bellic, an Eastern European immigrant who starts working the streets in Liberty City. Minigames include bowling and video games, and missions will...

more fun with people
icon1 Posted by admin in Game Geeks on 01 9th, 2008 | Comments Off
I came across the Seed game today, in which you can cross pollinate flowers to create brand new flowers, cloning and mutating the genetics of the flowers until you’ve got your own virtual Garden of Eden. Fun, but you know what would be MORE fun? If you could play this game with people. Clone Mom, and then splice her with that red headed cousin. Will the new baby have Dad’s hook nose, or the male pattern baldness from mom’s side of the family?

multiple currency transactions at backgammon masters
icon1 Posted by admin in Game Geeks on 12 11th, 2007 | Comments Off
I love a good game of Backgammon. I learned how to play the game using an ancient set of my parents, and I still play it online with friends, when time allows for it. It’s a great game that requires little skill, but lots of though and strategy. BackgammonMasters has taken my favorite game to a whole new level. Players who love the game of backgammon like I do, but want to play for cash discovered this site, offering tournaments and challenging play months ago. Now, players can multiple currency transactions at BackgammonMasters via the secure online...

unlimited credits on my very own video games

When I was a kid, my father owned an ice cream store. Sounds like every child’s dream, right? It wasn’t. I didn’t get much free ice cream, and I spent a lot of hours entertaining myself on one of the three video games we had in the shop: Ms. PacMan – couldn’t get past the 2nd level. (Hey, I was 8!) Tron – BORing. And weird. ‘Nuff said. Centipede – I always got my hand pinched in the controller! I do not have fond memories of any of those games. And that, combined with the $15,000 price tag, is why I...

militant platypus crossword

This untraditional crossword puzzle game is a great way to take a break from the daily grind. When you select a letter, and place it, you’re placing the letter in more than one place… Hmm. That makes no sense. Just play it, and let me know what you think. Flex your fingers and your brain, all at once!

marching band does tetris
icon1 Posted by admin in Game Geeks on 12 4th, 2007 | 1 Comment
I came across this marching band video while stumbling last night. Who knew band geeks were also game geeks? This band not only sounds great as they play the music from Zelda, Super Mario, and other games, but they move in formation and march into video game related shapes. See what you can identify – I found a scene from Pongo, and Tetris, and they also form the shape of an NES controller. This had to take weeks of planning and practice!

rock band: the game
icon1 Posted by admin in Game Geeks on 11 28th, 2007 | 3 Comments
We’re slowly but surely wrapping up our Christmas shopping…I know, I know – it’s not even December! I’m never on the ball like this. We purchased Guitar Hero III (with 2 guitars) for the kids, and I’m thinking about getting them Rock Band as well. It’s a Guitar Hero-ish game that has room for a guitar player, a drummer, and a singer. See that – 3 players in the game, and I have 3 kids. Perfect! My only issue is that the game requires a lot of “stuff”. You need the guitar, the drum kit, and...

gaming headsets

With each year, my son gets more and more interested in video games. We gave the kids a Playstation 2 for Christmas last year, and while the girls do play on it, it’s my son who plays it the most. On his list for Santa this year, he asked for an Xbox, and I had to break the news to him that Santa isn’t going to bring him a second gaming platform. Santa IS going to bring him more games and gaming accessories though. Last year, shortly after we got the PS2, I bought myself a wireless controller so that I could play from the couch. A few months...

what i did for the last 4 hours

I’ve spent entirely too much time playing Tower Blaster here today. It’s the perfect game for killing a few hours on the last workday before a 4 day holiday. Mindless, quick, relatively simple… and oh so addicting!

beer pong
icon1 Posted by admin in Game Geeks, Geek Gifts, Geek Humor on 10 11th, 2007 | 2 Comments
You’ve probably heard of ping pong. A table, little paddles, small white ball? How about beer pong? Leave it to a bunch of geeks to turn a innocent game into a drinking game! In beer pong, players try to throw a ping pong ball across a table, with the goal being to land the ball into a cup of beer. When you pop the ball into a cup of beer, the defending team has to drink up, and the winner is…well, not as drunk as the loser. You can now buy beer pong tables online! I don’t think we’ve got the room for a beer pong table in our...
