cingular 8525 is a great toy for a girl geek

icon1 Posted by admin in Geek Shopping on 08 7th, 2007 | 2 responses

It only took me 5 days, but I figured out how to sync my new AT&T 8525 to my work email, so now I can work when I’m not at home or the office. Umm, yay?

I’ve been having a blast sending text messages on it. For whatever reason, my old unbranded Motorola wouldn’t send text messages or pictures, so this is like having a new toy. I’ve been texting people right and left. I’m paying for the unlimited package, so why not?

The only issue I’m having with the phone is the Xpress Mail for Yahoo. I set it up on Friday and was able to send an email through my Yahoo, and download new mail, and it hasn’t connected since. Would it be lame of me to drive back to the Cingular store to have the salesman fix it?

Edited to add: Much thanks to Karoli for telling me exactly what I needed to do to access my Yahoo mail through my new phone!

Re-register the Yahoo mail (menu, re-register while you’re in the application). Put your password in and make sure your browser app (IE YECH) accepts cookies.

I’ve found that I have to do this every couple of days with the GMail Xpress Mail. It’s a little bit of a pain, but the push mail is worth it. Hopefully they’ll upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 soon, which should fix some of these bugs.

Go to your Xpress settings menu, then click the LEFT (different button than usual) softkey for the Menu. Under that menu, you’ll find the Re-register setting.
