Despite some people (who I refuse to link to) attempting to sabotage blogs using “do follow” by selling others comments on those blogs, I’ve not removed the do follow plug-in from any of my blogs. I’m extremely vigilant in deleting / moderating comments however, and I’ve been known to edit the email / URL from a great comment before approving it. That eliminates that commenter from being able to get his next comment automatically approved, but still allows their thoughts to appear here.
If you’d like to join the list of blogs using do follow, just jump onto the D List train here.
If you’re using do follow, I’d like to hear what steps you’re taking to keep spammers posing as interested readers from taking over your blog comments.

Do I do this?
I have no idea.
LOL!
I just added the do follow plugin yesterday. But I also read up on it a bit and got pretty confused. Is it good? is it bad? Ugh.. so many differing opinions.
As for spammers.. I use spam karma and it works great for me so far.
I am holding out and still have do follow on blogs. To take it down and go back to “no follow” felt like giving in and letting the spammers win just as much as letting spam comments go by me. So I just sift through the spam pile and keep on blogging.
If it is a questionable comment, I check their site. Unfortunately that takes time
I still have do follow on all my blogs. I use akismet or spam karma, and if someone posts an iffy comment I just delete it, or at least delete the link. I have not had a lot of problems with being do follow and I have signs on all my blogs saying that they are do follow.
My solution to the problem may not last – I’m just not big enough for spammers to mess with yet.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I edit comments. If someone leaves me a comment and the name they give is “Free Overseas Travel”, I edit the comment and call them Bob or something. I know they are spammers because not one of them has ever come back and said hey! You changed my name!
I use dofollow but I’m not sure if I’m on the list or not, haha.
I frequently update my comment blacklist for inappropriate words and for the URLs of sites that spam me. As long as you keep your comment clean and don’t link to spammy sites, a comment is approved on mine automatically and I don’t have too much trouble with spam.
