A sedation dentist DC has seen their fair share of people who have not been to the dentist in many years. Several because of lack of insurance and money, so many more because of the feat associated with going to the dentist. Dentists are realizing the amount of courage it takes for various people to make a dental appointment and then keep the date that they are now catering to cowards by making the dental experience as painless as possible.
Dental offices now resemble a day at the spa instead of the clinical, surgical place many opted for in the beginning. Patient comfort is what dentists are seeking and this may include placing a flat screen TV on the ceiling over the dental chair so that during a procedure, a patient could watch their favorite television show or movie. The patient would have on head phones in order to hear the movie without disrupting the dentist and their associates while they work.
Other DC dentists use massage therapy, aroma therapy, or a combination to help a fearful patient relax during a difficult dental procedure. They hire specially trained massage therapists to massage a person’s hands and/or feet while they try to relax and allow the dentist to perform what needs to be done to give them a great looking smile. Of course a patient could still request sedation or laughing gas during a procedure, but having a relaxing massage while the dentist works on your mouth will make someone feel much better about what is going on, even the most frightened of them all.
When choosing a DC dentist, especially if a person is terrified of them, call and speak with the dental assistants regarding how they handle those who are afraid. Some dentists will not work with patients who are apprehensive about dental procedures because either the dentist, or the patient, or sometimes both could be harmed if the patient begins to pull away or wave their arms in the air. This is more of a rare occurrence and most people, even subconsciously, understand that the dentist is not trying to harm them, but help them.
