Grand Theft Auto IV arrives in stores this week, adding a 4th storyline to the existing brand, which includes Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas. When we got a Playstation 2 years ago, my husband gave me the GTA 3-pack for Christmas, and I spent 2 months straight playing in San Andreas. (I finally gave up when I couldn’t get past the stupid motorcycle chase.)
In Grand Theft Auto IV, you play as Niko Bellic, an Eastern European immigrant who starts working the streets in Liberty City. Minigames include bowling and video games, and missions will involve running from the police and stealing things, naturally! Die hard gamers will love the online feature that allows you to play in a multiplayer or Death Match mode.

I’ve been playing it for a while now and like it, but it started off kind of slow and some of the dialog is cheesy. Maybe that’s what it’s going for, but I’ve gotten in the habit of skipping a lot of the cut scenes because it seems like Roman just says the same thing over and over again.
Also, I wish the paper map that comes inside the game case would have icons representing all the side missions. It has the stores, restaurants, and clubs listed, but the one for Vice City had all the side missions on it. Not a big deal, but it certainly makes the game play a lot more straight forward.
I remember that motorcyle chase! I hated it, took me ages to complete that mission and that was playing it on the PC, with what I feel personally are better controls – but then I’m all thumbs when it comes to gamepads.
It took a couple of weeks to get my GTA4 copy, I put it in my Xbox360 only find that my sound system is dying and doesn’t like my Xbox 360 at all – so until I can get something sorted there, my GTA4 is on hold.
