When a computer dies around here, or an internet connection fails, it’s on me. Just last night, my mom was over here with a computer ad she got in the mail, asking me to pick out the best one for her. Before that, I gave her a tutorial on how to upload pictures from her computer to print them out and have prints made. Good thing I live next door, huh? Actually, there have been times when she’s needed my assistance, and I haven’t been at home. At work for example, or out of town on vacation. Trying to help her via email isn’t the greatest, describing icons and how to access componants. That’s why I like the RemotePC Remote Access concept so much. For as little as $4.95 a month (after a free 30 day trial) you can have simple, but secure access to a home or office computer, when you’re away from the home or office. (Or in this case, a family member or friend’s computer!) Of course, if I were to access my mom’s computer using RemotePC, she’d need to give me her permission – this isn’t hacking. It’s just an easy way to remote into PC’s when you can’t be there in person, and it’s a lot more cost effective than Citrix (used at previous job) or VPN (using at current job!)![]()
