It is very important for a company to keep track of their money both incoming and outgoing, especially in these economic hard times.  An invoicing program or invoicing software program allows a business to keep track of which company or customer owes them money.  Unfortunately, they are going to be companies or customers who will ignore the invoices and try to get away without paying. In these times they need to be turned over to a collection agency in order to retrieve the money owed to a business.
