Kitchen contractors are placing dishwashers in more places than the traditional area of the kitchen. Some people prefer to have a dishwasher near the wet bar or even outside on the patio where they entertain most.Â
Â
There are now dishwashers that are drawer size or sink size for those people who live alone or older couples who don’t need a standard size dishwasher. Larger families with lots of kids sometimes need standard dishwashers to keep up with all the drinking glasses used throughout the day in addition to the large number of dinner plates. Some people who entertain a lot have a dishwasher on their island for unique kitchen designs that helps with cleanup.
Â
The classic kitchen is defined as the ‘work triangle’ – sink, cooking area and cleanup area – has been redefined in many modern kitchens with the big trend being appliances in other entertaining areas of the house.
Â
Many people have screened in porches where they do a lot of entertaining year-round and may have had a kitchen contractor build their small kitchen complete with granite kitchen countertops on one wall to help with the entertaining. This makes it easy for the hostess to have everything right there and not have to run inside every time something needs to be served.
Â
People who enjoy the ‘work triangle’ often have an island in their kitchen where most of the cooking is done and then the cleanup and sink areas are at the other ends of the kitchen helping to complete the triangle. Everyone is different and it’s up to the individual cook or the person who cooks the most in the family as to how they want their kitchen set up.
Â
Numerous kitchen remodeling jobs, if the kitchen is large enough, will have the contractor simply add an island in order to complete the triangle. This makes it easier for cooking without having to cross the entire room for a cook to get to what they need.
Â
Cooking shows always featured the ‘work triangle’ because it’s more conducive to the flow of cooking.Â
