It seems as if everyone has heard of the Miracle Ear hearing aids because they have the most aggressive ad campaigns of all the hearing aid companies out there today. Part of their slogan is they want to be everywhere you are and if you check your local phone book, you will probably find there is a Miracle Ear store near you. However, their history goes back to 1948 to an aviator pilot from World War II named Ken Dahlberg.
Mr. Dahlberg invented a pillow radio for hospital bound patients’ private listening; however his employer rejected the idea but this did not deter Mr. Dahlberg, for he founded Dahlberg, Inc. which became the foundation of for the Miracle Ear.
A few short years later, the Dahlberg, Inc. Company was one of the first companies to offer an in-the-ear style hearing aid. Today the company is one of the premier technology leaders in hearing aid manufacturers.
The Miracle Ear Company continues to introduce innovative expertise to help remove the barriers of hearing loss for those who suffer a hearing impairment. Some of these innovative technological advances include customizing hearing aids for individual hearing losses so that a ‘one-size-fits-all hearing aid’ mentality is not part of this company’s vernacular.
Hearing aid prices is another thing the Miracle Ear company is helping to control because with the advancements in technology also come higher prices; and people who are hearing impaired usually have a hard time finding a job that fits their special needs or they are receiving disability payments which makes them part of the country who is on a fixed income and cannot afford upgrades in hearing aids.
Miracle Ear not only designs and manufacturers hearing aids, they also have audiologists who can help a patient with determining their amount of hearing loss so they can choose the right hearing aid for their type of hearing loss. Not all hearing impaired patients are geriatric, some younger adults have lost their hearing from years of working in factories or too many loud concerts and therefore need the assistance of a hearing aid so they can live a normal, sound-filled life.
