Jim and I went and snagged 2 new cell phones this morning. He picked out a new Nokia – your basic camera phone. He wanted to stay with the flip phone design, but he wanted something a little easier to clutch, considering how many times he dropped his Razr phone.
I picked out the AT&T 8525. I looked at all of the Blackberry models, and the Palms, and even played with the iPhone on display. I really hated the narrow keyboards on the Blackberry and Palm PDA’s, and after testing out the keyboard on the 8525, I’m very happy with it. I certainly never thought I’d be one of *those* people who spent that much on a cell phone, but if it gives me access to the web and email (which it does, with my new unlimited email / text / web / picture plan) then it’s well worth it.
Of course, I still haven’t figured out how to connect to the internet now, but I’m sure I’ll get there. I even bought the car charger for the new phone! And I immediately send a friend a text message, and had no issues typing it on that big keyboard.

I’ve never been one for text messaging, although if I had a phone with an actual keyboard I might be. LOL
That phone you got looks pretty cool though. I need a new cell phone myself. Mine keeps deleting my pictures for me.
Nice phone! It’s always great to get a new gadget, I just got a new phone a few days ago myself: http://www.u-g-h.com/index.php/2007/07/19/got-me-a-new-phone/
I love gadgets!
I have the same exact phone but from T-Mobile. I’m only at the cell phone joint for the next week. If you need any pouches, car chargers, screen protectors or extra styluses, come and see me before I leave.
You have a couple of way to get your email on your phone. You can go through the “accoutn setup” like I showed this morning. You would have to contact yahoo via phone to find out what your incoming and outgoing server info is. That’s how I have mine set up through gmail. Your other option is to go to m.yahoo.com/start in your phones browser and Yahoo will help you setup Yahoo!Go. Yahoo!Go is pretty cool because it gives you access not only to your Yahoo mail but also their maps, news, flickr and messenger. Whichever route you take both with give you instant, up to date access to your email.
I’ve got that phone and it just plain rocks..
i couldn’t live without it anymore
The phones are nice. I for one am a cheapo. LOL. My husband is trying to convince me to get a phone over $100. I’ll pass. Now if someone wants to give it to me for free, I’ll take it.
I’m seriously SERIOUSLY thinking of getting that phone. Have you found any pros/cons with it yet?
My Papa says in general he is very happy with his phone (the 8125 which is almost exactly the same as the one you recently got). He’s had the phone nearly a year so he’s had plenty time to discover it’s quirks. The email works great; however, like any other touch screen phone, this phone likes to dial out on its own. My papa keeps it on auto lock so I can’t dial random numbers on it; that way it doesn’t dial out by an accidental touch. But when the phone rings, I sometimes hear it answer automatically even though it’s in his pocket. Also, the phone signal can be weak at times. Email me if you want anymore information. I’m very proficient with this phone. My mama has a TREO so I can help you with that phone too.
