Solar Powered Traffic Signs Help Distracted Multi-tasking Drivers Pay More Attention

icon1 Posted by Kolleen in Articles, Computer Technology, Technology on 12 3rd, 2009 | no responses

Even in today’s downward economy, people are still trying to multi-task and get more than one thing done at a time which usually means talking on their cell phones every chance they get while still trying to do something else like eat lunch at a public restaurant or drive their children to hockey practice.  Someone talking on their cell phone during your lunch break could be annoying, someone talking on their cell phone while driving next to you could be deadly.

Solar powered traffic signs could make a big difference in a driver’s life because they contain two, three or four flashing LED (light emitting diode) flashing lights that surround a word or arrow on a traffic sign to help distracted drivers see the traffic signs and hopefully, heed their ‘warning’ before it’s too late.

Solar powered traffic signs help save lives by alerting distracted drivers to traffic signs with flashing LED lights powered by the sun’s UV rays. These solar powered signs are very economical because they do not need costly electricity or gas for a generator.

A missed stop sign can have a devastating effect on more than one car or pedestrians at a street crossing; however by placing a solar powered stop sign with the flashing LED lights at each corner, more accidents could be prevented because the flashing LED lights could help attract the attention of distracted drivers and they will hopefully proceed with caution.

Solar powered pedestrian crossing signs near hospitals, schools for children of all ages, universities and colleges and busy strip malls could help save the lives of hundreds of people by slowing the flow of traffic and helping those distracted drivers – the ones who are still ‘window shopping,’ worried about a loved one in the hospital, an upcoming exam or countless other internal or external distractions, to see the flashing LED lights and slow down for the pedestrians.

Society will always have distracted drivers whether they are on their cell phone or chowing down on a burger.  Many states are now passing laws banning cell phone use in vehicles; however there will always be a distraction for drivers and one of the solutions is solar powered traffic signs.
