The latest technological advances uses the sun’s solar power in order to generate solar sign lights for solar powered traffic lights to help distracted drivers adher to traffic signs.
Solar powered traffic signs use the sun’s power to generate four or five LED flashing lights that surround the words or picture on a traffic sign to help alert drivers of impending traffic, upcoming signals, and curves in the road, potentially dangerous situations or pedestrian crossings.
A smaller sized solar powered panel is placed on top of a sturdy pole with the wires running through the pole down to the LED flashing lights, and then the traffic sign is attached to the front of the pole. Solar powered stop signs look almost identical to regular stop signs in terms of being placed on a pole; however the sign itself has four red flashing LED lights and at the top of the pole is a solar powered panel. A solar powered stop sign was created in order to help distracted drivers notice a stop sign by having it flash on and off to draw attention to it. Drivers pay more attention and use more caution when they see flashing LED lights surrounding a traffic sign.
Solar powered traffic signs are eco-friendly because they use the sun’s power instead of dangerous electrical cords, saving cities and states untold thousands of dollars in both accident costs from the emergency vehicles, personnel resources and utility bills.
Solar powered traffic signs could be used in any number of locations including the highway, communities where there are a lot of houses and children playing outdoors, schools and colleges or universities, construction yards, farm areas or anywhere vehicles and pedestrians need to coexist.
Solar powered traffic signs include pedestrian crossing signs, deer crossing signs, traffic light ahead signs, stop sign ahead signs, dangerous curves ahead signs, directional arrow signs, one way signs, wrong way signs, road ends signs, dead end signs, caution signs, construction equipment entrance signs, emergency vehicle entrance or exit signs or heavy machinery equipment signs. Each of these signs contain red, yellow or orange flashing LED lights that are powered by the sun’s solar power through a solar panel attached to the top of the pole.
A hybrid rental cars company could have several custom designed solar powered directional traffic signs made for their parking lot so that their customers know which way to return the hybrid rental cars and which way to exit the maze of cars in the parking lot.
Every day new technology evolves that helps save lives, and solar power traffic signs are just one of the many new advances in technology that not only help to save lives, but also help save the environment by using solar energy instead of electricity.

This is a cool idea. With the minimal draw of a lot of LED lights you could almost power them with a AA battery and not have to spend so much money building a solar panel.
